// Why MalTrak
What makes this engagement different
Identity first
Most cloud breaches start with identity. We review roles, permissions, and access paths to find privileges an attacker could abuse.
Configuration and exposure
We check storage, networking, compute, and managed services for misconfigurations and unintended public exposure.
Logging and detection readiness
We confirm that the right audit logs are enabled, retained, and monitored so an incident can actually be investigated.
Multi-cloud coverage
AWS, Microsoft Azure and Entra ID, and Google Cloud, reviewed individually or together.
// Overview
What it is
A cloud security review is a structured, in-depth assessment of how your cloud environment is configured and who can access what. It finds the misconfigurations, excessive permissions, and visibility gaps that attackers look for first.
Cloud platforms make it easy to move fast, and just as easy to leave a storage bucket public, grant a role far more access than it needs, or forget to enable the logs you would need during an incident.
What we review
- Identity and access: users, roles, service accounts, federation, and privilege escalation paths.
- Data protection: storage exposure, encryption, key management, and secrets handling.
- Network exposure: public endpoints, security groups, firewall rules, and segmentation.
- Compute and managed services: workload configuration, serverless functions, and container platforms.
- Logging and monitoring: audit trails, retention, and whether suspicious activity would raise an alert.
- Hybrid identity: the links between on-premises Active Directory and cloud identity providers.
How we approach it
Tools are good at flagging individual misconfigurations, but they rarely tell you which ones matter. We combine automated checks with manual analysis by people who understand how attackers move through cloud environments, and we connect individual findings into realistic attack paths.
The result is a short list of issues that genuinely change your risk, each with clear remediation steps your cloud team can act on.

// How it works
Our engagement process
A clear, predictable engagement in 5 phases. You always know what is happening and what comes next.
Step 1: Scoping
We agree on which accounts, subscriptions, or projects are in scope and arrange read-only access.
Step 2: Automated and manual review
We combine tooling with manual analysis to assess identity, configuration, network exposure, and data protection.
Step 3: Attack path analysis
We connect individual findings into realistic attack paths to show which issues matter most.
Step 4: Logging and monitoring assessment
We review audit logging, retention, and alerting against what an investigation would need.
Step 5: Reporting and debrief
You receive prioritized findings and remediation guidance, followed by a walkthrough with your cloud and security teams.
// Deliverables
What you receive
- Executive summary of cloud security posture and key risks
- Prioritized findings with evidence and remediation steps
- Identity and privilege attack path analysis
- Logging and detection readiness assessment
- Hardening recommendations aligned with provider best practices
// FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What access do you need?
Read-only access to the in-scope accounts, subscriptions, or projects is usually enough. We never need write access for a configuration review.
Which cloud providers do you cover?
Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure including Entra ID, and Google Cloud Platform. Hybrid environments that connect on-premises Active Directory to the cloud are also in scope.
How is this different from a cloud penetration test?
A review examines your configuration from the inside with read-only access, giving broad coverage quickly. A penetration test actively attempts to exploit weaknesses. Many organizations start with a review and follow up with targeted testing.
How long does a review take?
It depends on the size and number of environments. We confirm the timeline during scoping, once we understand how many accounts and services are involved.
